"Forms processing" refers to the extraction of digital data from paper-based forms such as sales orders, insurance claims, time sheets, tax returns, credit card applications, traffic tickets, checks, surveys, warranty cards, and virtually any other type of printed form. This data can include "machine print" (typewriter or computer-generated fonts), "handprint" (handwritten characters), "mark sense" (check boxes and bubbles), bar code and signatures.
Unlike "document processing" wherein large blocks of text are scanned in and then stored or archived, forms processing deals with hand written data which, in most cases, must be acted upon quickly. Whether it’s a purchase order or a policy claim, the form carries data that’s critical to the next step in a work flow. The hand written data in forms must be processed manually daily and at high speeds and the output information is shared for decision making processes. This is a slow and manually intensive process.
Using WriteXT eForms, handfilled forms are scanned, converted to text and uploaded to a server for collaboration in real time at high speed- from handwritten stage to text output in 5 seconds per form. This creates a WorkFlow at high speed.

Typical eForms Processing Application
Historically, forms processing has been performed by data entry operators reading and then keying in the data manually — a relatively slow and expensive process compared with today’s automated forms processing systems. The WriteXT systems is fast. The technology consist of a high-speed scanner, computer-based OCR (optical character recognition) and WriteXT ICR (intelligent character recognition) technology. By automating data input and verification, the systems greatly reduce the need for operator intervention.
Forms can be filled using a normal pen and paper, which is the traditional way of collecting data or by usine an electronic pen
When filling with a normal pen, the forms can be scanned individually or in batches and processed to digital forms using WriteXT
If using an electronic pen and Pen2Text technology , the forms will be converted to a digital form, once the data from the pen is downloaded to the computer.
